Foreign exchange market review for 06.12.2007

At Ukrainian interbank foreign exchange market US dollar strengthening on previous session by 5,065/5,075, which provoked National Bank to resume foreign exchange interventions, aroused the interest to foreign currency sale at bid on Thursday. In the term of great demand of US dollar, its rate, however, decreased against hryvnia due to increased sales. Bid were opened at the level 5,06/5,08, but soon trade range narrowed by 5,065/5,073, and a little bit later the rate overcame the mark 5,06/$1.

Bid were closed multidirectionally at the mark 5,05/5,08, while 5,065/5,075 at bid on Wednesday, before NBU started to sell foreign currency at the rate 5,06.

Major part of bargains today was concluded by banks in the range 5,060/5,065, that corresponds to yesterday level. NBU did not take part in bid.

At DEPO-market bid take place in a quite mood, interbank credit rates are subject just to a slight changes.

«Overnight» credits rates keep on varying in the range 2,0/4,0%. Major part of bargains was concluded in the range 2,5/3,5%. Average weighted «overnight» rate by 17:00 КТ makes up 2,8%, keeping unchanged for the third session running. Concluded bargains volume by this very time made up UAH 2,04 bln., while 2,60 bln. on Wednesday.

 

Rates on credits for the term «from 2 up to 7 days» decreased a little and stay in the range 2,5/5,5%, while 3/6% on previous day. Average price, thus, decreased by 3,5%, from 3,8% according to bid results on Wednesday. Concluded bargains volume by 17:00 КТ grew up by 300 mln., from 266 mln. on Wednesday.

Trade range on credits for the term «from 22 up to 31 day» makes up today 11,0/12,0%, while 9,8/11,3% on previous session.
